Rip Blu-ray to SD card on Oculus Cinema use Gear VR and phone

Q: “How do I put Blu-ray movies onto SD card to watch on my Smartphone and Gear VR in Oculus Cinema? I will be going on a LONG trip this weekend, and would like to put a couple of movies onto an SD card so my kids and I can use the Smartphone and Gear VR to watch, instead of lugging around bulky Blu-ray players. Can someone please tell me how to do that? Do I have to rip the Blu-ray onto my computer, then transfer them onto my SD card? How, exactly, do I do that? Step by step instructions would be really helpful to this newbie. Thank you all so much!”

If you want to enjoy Blu-ray on Oculus Cinema, you may also wondering how to get your favorite Blu-ray movie from discs to your SD card. The process is time consuming, but worth it if you’d like to take Blu-ray movies to Any smartphones on the go. The top device you can enjoy movies with Oculus Cinema is Gear VR, It creates a better-than-expected sense of immersion using a Note 4., Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge as its screen and engine. Now, follow the guide on how to watch Blu-ray movie on Oculus Cinema freely.

Step-by-step: Convert Blu-ray movies on Smartphones & Gear VR with Oculus Cinema

Step 1. Load Blu-ray files

Launch the Top Blu-ray Ripper. Click disc button on the main interface to load your media files to the program. Blu-ray folder, ISO image files are also supported.

Step 2: Select format and set profile.

You can Click the format bar to choose “HD Video” > “HD H.264 Video (*.mp4).”for any devices. But, for Gear VR, you can Click “Format” bar and find “3D Video”, there are a lot of format options for you. “MKV Side-by-Side 3D Video (*.mkv)” or “MP4 Side-by-Side 3D Video (*.mp4)” from “3D Video” is recommended for Samsung Gear VR.

Tip: If you are not satisfied with the output 3D effect, remember to hit “Settings” button besides the format list, here you can free adjust wanted resolution, video quality (bitrate) and 3D depth effect. Considering Gear VR can only work with 16 GB microSD card, the 3D target video quality (bitrate) should not be set too high, as you know, higher bitrate, larger file size. For me, 1920*1080 with a higher bitrate around 5000kbps is OK.

Step 3. Start to convert Blu-ray to Gear VR

Click “Convert” button and let the software do the Blu-ray to Gear VR SBS video conversion for you or the MP4 format for Galaxy Note 4. Just be patient, it will not take you long time. After the conversion, click “open” to locate the converted video files and then transfer them to your SD Card and watching on Galaxy Note 4 with Gear VR in Oculus Cinema at ease.

To watch your 3D videos, however, there is an additional step, and it’s not entirely straightforward.

The following will allow for perfect 3D playback of videos set up in a SBS format. SBS format means the left and right video channels are contained within the same file and appears as a near-mirror image when played back using a standard media player. To view your SBS 3D video files on your Gear VR, follow these steps:

1. On your MicroSD card file directory, navigate to Oculus > Movies > Your Movies

2. Create a new folder within “Your Movies” and label it “3D”

3. Import or move your SB 3D videos into your newly created “3D” folder

Once you have created your 3D content folder and imported compatible video files, insert your MicroSD card into your Galaxy Note 4 (if it isn’t already), slide the phone in your Gear VR, and put the virtual reality headset on your head. Then:

1. Navigate to Oculus Cinema from the main menu

2. Navigate to “My Videos” from the Oculus Cinema content library menu

3. Select the 3D video you wish to view (if you followed the above steps it should have a “3D” label in the upper righthand corner)

4. Choose the cinema mode to begin playback

Now, you can get your Blu-rays into Smartphones and Samsung Gear VR head set without a hassle. Just have your wonderful virtual driving experience with Oculus Cinema!
